The Emigre Web Font Software License Agreement allows web use only for styling HTML pages, using the CSS @font-face rule, and only with the WOFF and EOT files provided by Emigre. Our license prohibits user converted formats.

The following example is for a classic single font style.

Emigre offers a choice of a 5 year renewable term, or a one time perpetual term option.

Each license allows the fonts to be used on multiple domains owned and controlled by one entity. Each entity requires a separate license. The page views are cummulative for all domains owned and controlled by one entity.

Web Font Hosting Requirements

Our license requires you to disable hotlinking and directory listing.

Disable hotlinking with .htaccess
Be sure your Apache web server has enabled the module called ModRewrite.
a. Open the .htaccess file
b. Add the following (be sure to change "your-domain.com "):
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www.)?your-domain.com/.*$ [NC]
RewriteRule \.(woff|eot)$ - [F]
c. Save and upload to the directory you need to protect. For example if the fonts are in a folder called "WebFonts" upload the .htaccess file to that directory.

There are two ways to disable directory listing using the Apache web server. If you are using a different web server or don't know, contact your web hosting provider for assistance.

1. Using the .htaccess file.
a. Open the .htaccess file
b. Look for "Options Indexes" change to "Options -Indexes"
c. If you can't find it add "Options -Indexes"
d. Save the file and upload to your server.

2. Using the "httpd.conf" file
a. Open the httpd.conf file
b. Change "Indexes" to "-Indexes"
c. If "Options Indexes" exists change to "Options -Indexes"
d. Save and restart Apache web server
