Nancy Mazzei and Brian Kelly

Nancy Mazzei works as the VP of off-air creative at VH1 in New York City. She was a partner in her own studio, Smokebomb, in the early 90's for 6 years. Her shop created original fonts for the likes of Emigre and David Carson/Raygun magazine. Her font, Gladys, was displayed at the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum's Mixing Messages show. Mazzei has won numerous awards for her work at VH1 and Showtime, and Smokebomb's work has been included in various design annuals, magazines and museums over the years. She taught typography for four years at The School of Visual Arts where she earned her BFA with honors in Media Arts. Mazzei lives in Manhattan with her husband Michael Wong.

Type Designers

Emigre licenses its fonts directly from the designers who create them, who often spent years completing the fonts. We ask you to help us support type designers by acquiring proper licenses for the use of these fonts.
